When it comes to candles, my opinion is that quality fragrance oils are a better option than essential oils. None of the fragrances I use contains phthalates or parabens, and none of the ingredients is animal derived. Data sheets for individual fragrances are available by request.

CANDLE AND MELT WAXES

I stock three types of waxes, but primarily use a Cocosoy blend (natural soy bean and blended coconut wax, combined with MST Ultimate Wax Additive) for my candles. Unless otherwise noted, all candles are made using Cocosoy. You can select an alternative wax in the drop down options when you place your candle order.

Beesoy contains no paraffins or polymers and is a 100% natural wax, made from ethically sourced beeswax delicately blended with premium quality hydrogenated soybean oil.

100% Pure Soy wax is not blended with any other elements besides soy, containing no other wax hardeners and no percentage of other waxes. This variety is as advertised; pure, premium and natural soy wax. This is the best quality pure soy wax available.

For melts and tealights, I use 494 Tart Wax. This is a soy wax designed specifically to suit wax melts and tarts. All of the ingredients used to make this wax are 100% natural and derived from plant-based sources.

More detailed information on candle and melt waxes can be provided upon request.

ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are a highly concentrated product. They’re liquids based on plant extracts and contain chemical compounds from the plant that give the oil a similar smell to the plant from which it was derived. Assuming they’re harmless, because they’re ‘pure’ or ‘natural’ is a misconception, as essential oils can be dangerous if misused.

I do not use essential oils in my candles, as the expense would make them more costly. This is because of the amount required to provide a candle with a good hot throw (its scent when lit).

In addition, many essential oils have a low flash point, meaning they can be volatile and easily combustible under certain conditions. Very small quantities ingested can lead to toxicity in children and babies. Some essential oils can also be harmful to pregnant women and their babies. There’s also a risk of aspirating (breathing in) the product into the lungs, where it can cause a serious lung infection known as chemical pneumonitis.

I do use essential oils in some of my body and home fragrance products. I will add these to the this page over time. Most essential oils require dilution into a carrier oil, but can be inhaled in a well ventilated area. Some people do find that essential oils can be irritating to the skin or the airways.

If you any allergies that can be triggered by scents or fragrances, please contact me to obtain a full fragrance description, including individual fragrance notes, or information on any essential oils for which you’d like more information, before purchasing.

If you are pregnant, breast feeding, or suffering from a health disorder, please consult your health care professional before using essential oils topically.

Contraindications will be added to a separate page and individual product pages over time. However, do not take advice or information on this site as a full and complete list, or in place of proper medical advice from your health professional. It is your responsibility to discuss any concerns with your preferred medical advisor prior to purchase.

You are welcome to contact me for additional information on any product prior to purchase.
